FAQs
What’s the difference between home health care and home care?
Home health care includes medical services provided by licensed professionals like nurses and therapists, often under a doctor’s order. Home care refers to non-medical assistance such as help with bathing, grooming, meal preparation, and companionship. Many providers, like Providence Healthcare Services in Miami, offer both types of care for a complete at-home support system.
How do I know if my parent needs home health care or assisted living?
If your parent prefers to stay at home but needs medical or daily living support, home health care may be the better option. Assisted living involves moving to a facility, which may not be necessary if home care services can meet their needs. An in-home assessment by a provider like Providence can help guide the decision.
Are home health care services covered by insurance or Medicare in Florida?
Yes, many home health care services—such as skilled nursing, therapy, and certain medical supplies—can be covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance if eligibility criteria are met. Providers like Providence Healthcare Services can help families in Miami navigate coverage and billing questions.
Can children receive home health care in Miami?
Yes. Pediatric home health care services are available in Miami for children with complex or chronic medical needs. Providence Healthcare Services offers skilled pediatric nursing and therapy services designed to support both the child and their family at home.
What types of dementia care can be provided at home?
Dementia home care may include supervision, medication reminders, help with daily tasks, memory-stimulating activities, and behavior support. Providence’s caregivers in Miami are trained to provide compassionate care in a familiar home setting, which helps reduce confusion and stress for those living with Alzheimer’s or related conditions.
How quickly can home health care services start after a hospital discharge?
Home care services can often begin within 24 to 48 hours after a hospital discharge, depending on the provider’s availability and referral process. Providence Healthcare Services works closely with hospitals and families in Miami to ensure a smooth, timely transition from hospital to home.
Do home health aides in Miami speak Spanish or other languages?
Yes. Many home care agencies in Miami, including Providence Healthcare Services, have bilingual staff available to serve Spanish-speaking families and other language communities. This helps ensure clear communication and culturally respectful care.
